In many cases, yes — breast-conserving surgery is the first option when it is oncologically safe. Oncoplastic surgery combines tumor removal with plastic surgery techniques in the same operation for a good aesthetic result; reconstruction (with an implant or your own tissue) can be immediate or delayed.
Neoadjuvant chemotherapy shrinks the tumor before surgery — it can turn a mastectomy into breast-conserving surgery and shows directly how well the tumor responds to treatment. The decision is made by the multidisciplinary board, based on the molecular subtype.
The molecular subtype guides the treatment: for HER2-positive disease there are targeted anti-HER2 therapies, and for triple-negative disease chemotherapy and immunotherapy may be used, as appropriate. That is why a complete pathological evaluation is essential before any plan.
